The teachings of Wushu in middle school, affecting the popularization and development of Wushu and deciding the inheritance and promotion of the excellent traditional heritage, is the basis of the cause of Chinese Wushu. The research studies the status quo of the teachings of Wushu in middle school in Fujian Province, utilizing the means of literature-analyzing, interview, questionnaire, statistics and logic-analyzing. What the research found are as the following:First, the status quo of Wushu teaching is unsatisfactory. The elements of incompetent martial teachers, less importance attached by school authority and concerned leaders and the scarcity of ground and equipments; Secondly, the martial teachers, who are mostly young, good educated and in appropriate rates of professional title and gender, seldom are graduated from the major of Wushu, weak in the ability of R&D, and short of chances and approaches for continued education.; Thirdly, the teaching methods usually adopt the model of "teachers demonstrates first, then students follow". The major criteria of the final examination mainly consist of the degree of the martial skills that students master and also their studying attitudes and relative degree of advancement. Such criteria are keeping with the ideas of the general criteria of new courses; Fourthly, the Wushu course usually use textbooks written uniformly, not of systematical ones; for the teaching contents, mostly the compound of simple action but no enough traditional boxing with local characteristics.; and as the less teaching hours, no time for the teachings of martial culture.Through analyzing the causes of this issue, the research worked out some countermeasures. First, the authority of education institution should, from the altitude of promotion of Chinese traditional culture, put more attentions to assist the development of Chinese Wushu. They should add more teaching hours appropriately to the total courses of physical education in middle school, or set the course of Wushu as compulsory course. Moreover, they need to improve the understanding of Wushu among the school heads, teachers and other staffs.Secondly, to improve the levels of the teachers of Wushu, from all position and in multi channels. In detail, the measures including:(1) to increase the numbers of enrollments of the major of Wushu, in order to turn the status quo that there are too less Wushu teachers in middle school; (2) to organize the Wushu teachers of middle school to receive more professional training; (3)to introduce local famous Wushu talents and professional experts into the classroom, making Wushu more local and more ethnical; (4) to urge Wushu teachers to learn more about the technical knowledge and anecdotes, then try to share them with students and help them getting more incentives for studying Wushu and developing good Wushu morality.; (5)to develop more flexible, open and interesting teaching methods, so the students may love Wushu, whatever in the class or in the leisure time.
