Initial teacher education is a special way to train teachers and a start of teacher professional development, whose quality directly decides the pros and cons of future teachers. Initial teacher education and training constantly blaze new trails in practice in U.K...It creates a new model in the 21st century, which named "Teach First Programme", on the basis of turning to "school-based", focusing on "on-the-job" training, establishing the partnership between universities and schools. The programme's mission is to address educational disadvantage by encouraging top graduates to spend two years on teaching in challenging schools, and receiving teacher training as well as leadership training, in order to transforming them into effective, inspirational teachers and leaders in all fields. "Teach First Programme" has been achieving good results in practice. Its innovative features and mature experience can provide some reference for the current initial teacher education in China.This thesis uses the literature-research method, the comparative method and the qualitative analysis method to analyze the "Teach First Programme". Firstly, it analyzes the background and reasons for "Teach First Programme" generated. Secondly, it gives a comprehensive introduction to the programme, including creation process and basic properties, recruitment strategies and selection procedures, training model and the main activities. Thirdly, it refines the main features and the innovative performance of the programme, also summarized the results achieved in practice. Then, it analyzes the theoretical basis behind this model and its practical significance. Finally, this thesis discusses the relationship between "Teach First Programme" and teacher professional development, clarifies the author's own point of view. At the same time, in view of the successful experience of the programme, paper in the final makes some suggestions and comments on our country's initial teacher education.
