A Research Of The Polytechnic Experiment In Uk (1965-1992)

The polytechnic in UK was the main body of non-university under the Binary higher education system. It was different from the traditional mode of education in areas of the school of thought, curriculum, academic classification and management mechanisms and so on. It appeared to expand the British Higher education scale, in particular the scale of higher vocational education, in order to cultivate a large number of British post-war economic development of the necessary skilled personnel. However, in its development process also exposed a culture targeting unclear illnesses, which made them develop gradually deviated from the original "vocational education" positioning, resulting in the "academic drift" phenomenon, which eventually led to more than the demise of the polytechnic. To study the development of the British polytechnic deeply may give an important reference and warning significance to the course of development for the future and reform of China's higher vocational colleges.In this paper, the main line is the establishment and the demise of the polytechnic in history. Trying to conduct a longitudinal description of the development of its history, and thus find some regularity, so that getting some inspire to the development of higher vocational colleges in China.
