Since the 90's of last century, in the countries around the world, changing learning approach is the main content of studying curriculum reform, inquiry learning which is a part of it attract researchers'wide attention, and the theory and practice of inquiry learning are discussed in everywhere. In our country, inquiry learning has been integrated into high school teaching programs as a kind of learning activities that are established specially. It is aimed to help learners create a positive learning attitude and good learning strategies, and develop their innovative and practical ability. With significant research effort of researchers and teachers, web-based group inquiry learning which integrates network technologies and learning methods has shown its effects.At present, there are many network teaching platforms that can support group inquiry-based learning, and most of them can support the sharing and reuse of learning objects, but the teaching platforms that can support the sharing of high level knowledge, such as instructional design, are few. LAMS (Learning activities manage system) as a network teaching platform is developed based on the design concept about learning activities, and its center is learning activities. It can support the sharing and reuse of learning content and focuses on the planning and tracking of learning process. Therefore, in this paper, we select LAMS as the platform for group inquiry learning activities.In this study, first, I analyze the structure and functional characteristics of LAMS, and then give an overview of relevant theories of group inquiry learning based on network. Next, based on the inquiry learning theory, activity theory, learning design theory, distributed cognition theory, we discuss the design elements of group inquiry learning which run on LAMS. Based on the analysis above, I put forward the flow chart of entire activities of design and elaborate it. In the process of design, by comparing some existing learning model to explore the characteristics and shortcomings, I give a flow chart that is more suitable for group inquiry learning activities. Finally, taking extra-curricular learning activities titled with'the application of distance education'for example, I design a series of activities of group inquiry learning based on LAMS and analyze the results of activities for checking the design of inquiry learning activities above.
