Since 1980s, knowledge economy has gained explosive growth in worldwide, leading to the rapid development of knowledge-intensive business service (referred to as KIBS)—a special branch of the service industry. In the context of economic globalization, the internationalization of KIBS enterprises has been an irreversible trend. However, few Chinese KIBS enterprises are competing in the international market; even those who have engaged in internationalization do not have enough competitiveness to be compared with foreign counterparts. As the carrier of human capital with high knowledge command, Top management team (referred to as TMT) is an important driving force for the development of KIBS enterprises, and is essential for enhancing the international competitiveness of KIBS enterprises. Therefore, in order to make suggestions for internationalization of Chinese KIBS enterprises, the study in the relationship between TMT human capital characteristics of KIBS enterprises and the level of their internationalization, have important theoretical and practical significance.Firstly, this paper reviews the domestic and foreign studies on the internationalization of KIBS enterprises in the form of literature review. According to The Upper Echelons Theory and other research results in TMT, the paper provides a theoretical basis for establishing model later. Next, the paper analyzes the status in quo of Chinese KIBS enterprises' internationalization and their TMT building, providing a realistic basis for empirical study and conclusions proposed later; After mechanism analysis, the paper makes clear the relationship between KIBS enterprises TMT building and the level of their internationalization, so the theoretical model comes following. Then, from two angles of variables mean and heterogeneity, the paper makes a series of hypothesis about the relationship between TMT characteristics of KIBS enterprises and the level of their internationalization, and further, establishes a multiple regression equation in which the former as independent variables and the latter as a dependent variable. The sample data are collected from 67 Chinese KIBS enterprises, which are A-share market and H-share market listed companies. Through correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis, we find that TMT characteristics of KIBS enterprises have impact on the level of their internationalization. In detail, the average education and international experience of KIBS enterprises'TMT are positively related to the level of their internationalization, while the average age and tenure heterogeneity are negatively related to it. The relationship between other characteristic variables and the dependent variable are not significant. Finally, according to the results of the preceding analysis, the paper summarizes problems existing in the internationalization and TMT building of Chinese KIBS enterprises, and then put forward some corresponding countermeasures.
