Without any substantial modification to existing production facilities mixed-model assembly lines (MMALs) are capable of producing a variety of product models similar in construction and configuration concurrently, provided that MMALs are well balanced and sequenced. MMALs yield customized products and services with the manufacturing cost and response speed which are usually required under mass production. With the diversification and subdivision of the automobile market demand, automakers choose to use MMALs to sharpen their competitive edge. The production planning and scheduling become more and more important by using modern advanced technologies and methods. To optimize the production management, operating and resources distribution becomes the essential part to realize the lean manufacturing and increase the competitiveness of enterprises. Mufti-objective flexible job shop scheduling problem (FJSP) is an important extension of JSP, which takes into account not only the flexibility of machine availability but also the different expectations from different departments. With the improvement of production methods, the study of production planning and scheduling becomes more and more realistic and meaningful. Owing to the complexity of workshop manufacturing system, the randomness of manufacturing environment influencing factor, the objective diversity of production process and workshop production scheduling, it resulted in the complexity and difficulty of workshop production scheduling problem.The classical job shop scheduling problem (JSP) has always being studied by researchers and therefore abundant theories are yielded through the past half centuries. However, they are hard to put into practice because of the unrealistic assumptions in setting up the model of JSP. Based on the research on the workshop scheduling theories and approaches, according to the producing flow of the cars enterprises and combining with production planning and scheduling of auto, this article explores how to apply to advanced and practical scheduling approaches to realize balanced production, shorten the cycle of the parts' processing and increase the rate of the equipment's utility. Combining with the production reality of the FAW-Volkswagen CP2-BS, this article analyzed their current status of scheduling and manufacturing management, discussed the variety of restraints factors included the producing time, storage instance and the equipment-stop and etc. Through analyzing the main restrained condition and objects, this article suggested an optimized solution, which through combination of multi-objective optimization and secondary optimization to solve the problem.The research has made up the deficiency of the past studies which are limited in one workshop. The research result have practical reference value for the similar mixed-model automobile lines to develop optimal configuration and scheduling and is of guiding significance for the future study.
