Research On Production Management Of Hdd Head Stack Assembly Under Scm Environment

With the globalization of economic development, frequent change of customer demand as well as increasing severity of competition in market place, supply chain management (SCM) has been becoming much more significance for an enterprise to survive and develop, while production management is a key tache in supply chain.In the supply chain of Hard Disc Drive (HDD) industry, the production of Head Stack Assembly(HSA) is one crucial part in it. The paper analyzes the effect of production management of HSA in HDD supply chain and value chain by summarizing related theories and the application of supply and value chain theory; The paper also analyzes the problems of X company in the production of HSA by considering the application of information technology in production management and the application of comparing study method. New production model based on planning and means of information technology is established in order to tackle these problems. The major achievement of this model is as follows:(1)Production material management. The function of electrical Work in Process (WIP) report, preventing materials from mixing and auto WIP quantity control has been set up by establishing data reporting point on process flow, optimizing materials'description and application of Job Order, which can eliminate manual report for WIP management, largely relieve the pressure of operators to check the materials before production and can reduce non-valued activity of such materials checking.(2)Production plan management. The system can hourly monitor the difference between plan and actual output so that corrective action can be taken timely by persons of production management.(3)Quality management. The function of on line SPC, traceability and real time process performance system has been established by using barcode, OCR and RFID technology, which can reduce cost of quality and improve the response to quality issues.In conclusion, improvement on production management is namely improvement on supply chain. It can boost up the effect of production management in value chain, and also can improve the core competence of the company in HDD supply chain, especially in HSA production by reducing non-valued operation.
