Guizhou City Commercial Banks, Merger And Reorganization Of The Development Of Strategic Research

In recent years, the term city commercial bank is commonly used in literature. Though many papers andreports discuss the function of city commercial banks, how to position a city commercial bank remains confusion in practice. Many cases in developed countries show that small and medium banks play important roles in local economy. However, latest case studies reveal that the impact of Guizhou's economy growth to its finance sector's growth is much bigger than that of the finance sector to the whole economy. Apparently, banks are not fully playing their financial intermediary roles, which negatively impact the sustainable growth of local economy. As one type of local financial institutions, city commercial banks in Guizhou have little impact to the local economic growth. Some banks even become the financial burden of local governments. It is therefore important to re-examine the role city commercial banks play in Guizhou's economy and investigate what is wrong in their development? It is also of practical significance to study the future directions and to give strategic development plan of city commercial banks in Guizhou.
