As integration of world economy has come to the 21st century, the world tourism industry is forming collectivization and regionalization in order to face the fiercer and fiercer market competition. With twenty years'fast development, the domestic tourist industry has expanded rapidly. More and more tourism products have been provided and the product structures have become reasonable. In order to enhance whole competition strength and improve the overall image of regional tourism, integrating the development of the regional tourism should be imperative under the situation. But the progress of domestic market economy is short, the market separation between region and industry is serious and lack of communicating and corresponding so that through integration of the development of the tourism industry, we can't extrude the overall image and profit and lots of the local areas do things in their own ways. Nowadays there have been many repetitions of construction at a low level, on one hand they waste the resource and on the other hand they influence the tourism overall upgrading. Therefore the integration of the regional tourism development is becoming the need to tourism further quick development and it has been paid great attention by the regional governments, enterprises and scholars.Based on the precursors'study, the paper probes into the influential factors, the basic principles, the content systems, etc, and it tries to establish the theoretical system. It is divided into four parts altogether.The first part is the prolegomenon which explains not only the reasons, purposes, contents and structures of the study but also the methods of the study. It will help us to make a clear thought and establish the foundation for the further discussion.The second part expounds the theoretical foundation of the integration of the regional tourism development in order to find out the bearing point of the theory study to offer the study a strong base.The third part plays a great role in the paper. Firstly the author gives the definition of the integration of the regional tourism development. Secondly the author systematically analyses the five principles such as integrity, highlighting regional characteristic and market-orientation which should be following in the integration of the regional tourism development using the theories of economics, tourism, marketing and so on. With the help of the analyses, the author also analyses the influences of subjective factors and objective factors, and argues the contents in the integration of the regional tourism development.Fourthly, taking Nanjing as a case study, based on the further investigation of the regional tourism development, the author conducted SWOT analysis of the regional tourism development, and points out ways of developing tourism resources, promoting market sales, creating new types of tourism products and establishing favorable social environment according to the basis theories of integration of regional tourism development. The aim is to provide the guidance for the future integration of Nanjing tourism development so that the overall image of Nanjing tourism could be consequently improved and the whole competition strength increased. The tourism industry in Nanjing can be greatly promoted and developed normatively, sustainably and harmoniously in good order.
