Since the reform and opening up, China's motor industry has been expandingdramatically. Especially after China's accession to the WTO, with world economy andglobal motor industry developing very fast, the Chinese local motor companies have beenenhancing their competency through mergers and competition. However, Chinesecompanies still haven't established their well-known brands in the auto industry. On thecondition that the importance of developing China's own motor brands has been agreed byall domestic circles presently, clarifying various conditions that are needed to develop ownbrands currently and seeking proper development modes and development orientationaccording to company's situation are vital to the development of China's motor brands.On the basis of probing into the current situation and characteristics of thedevelopment of motor industries in the developed countries, the newly industrializedeconomies and the developing countries, this dissertation analyzes in detail the conditionsin terms of policy, environment, company and consumer that are needed for developingChina's own motor brand by using the methods of comparison and analysis, and also sometheories such as international investment, industry economics and marketing, in order tofind out, under the current situation, the advantages, disadvantages, as well as theopportunities and threats to the development of China's own motor brands. Finally,considering the experiences of the development of motor industry in other countries, thedissertation put forward several recommendations on how to promote the development ofChina's own motor brands.
