China's Shipping Business Performance Evaluation Indicator Selection

With the development of foreign trade and the domestic economy, the national shipping companies should catch hold of opportunities and take scientific measures to get ahead in the international shipping market.This dissertation is aim to establish a set of performance evaluation system for maritime companies in China, which includes the following five chapters.In first chapter, there is a definition described for the concept of enterprise performance evaluation and the theoretical basis and theoretical framework of performance evaluation have been reviewed.In second chapter, I analysis the operating features of shipping business enterprise and the design basis of their performance evaluation system. We believe that the shipping companies' performance evaluation system should be established on the special characteristics of the shipping industry and the development of shipping enterprises' strategy.In third chapter, we choose COSCON performance evaluation system as a case, analysis the measure's chose and their importance. Since COSCON changed its performance evaluation system at the beginning of 2007,I issued questionnaires to employees on the basis of difference of the old system and the new one. From the survey results, the analysis of the actual performance before and after the change of the evaluation system as embodied in the design. It verified the second part of the performance evaluation of the design ideas.In fourth chapter, based on the analysis of the COSCON performance evaluation system case, I got the idea of measures' chose and prepare to give an evaluation frame of China's shipping enterprises in current development environment and strategic background.In last chapter, the importance of indicators has been theoretically discussed and calculated on the basis of survey results.
