The transition of science and technology achievement is the bottleneck of the economic transformation for our country. As a typical knowledge-intensive work, the motivation of sci-tech personnel is the key factor for the result of the transition of science and technology, which is the weak point of our state enterprises. To improve that, we developed a new motivation system for the knowledge worker which is based on their real needs.According to the theory study, we constructed a framework of the motivation system for sci-tech personnel. Then Changsha Research Institute of Mining and Metallurgy was targeted for application study, based on the weakness of the current motivation system and the experimental research, we designed an applied motivation system and the implementing scheme for this institute. In our study, we found that organizational culture, individual development and payment are the most crucial dimensions for motivation. Other dimensions such as the task and emotion are also important. In practice, all dimensions should be combined to satisfy the complex needs of knowledge workers. |
