Chongqing City, The Automobile Industry Cluster Competitiveness

After reforming and open-up, automobile industry of Chongqing has got a great development, and takes more important role in local economics. The government of Chongqing has established the automobile industry in Chongqing as the first pillar industries in strategic industries. However, the automobile industry in Chongqing faces by domestic and international competition which has been very intense. At this time evaluation and research to competitiveness of the automobile industry cluster in Chongqing is very important.This paper studies related to three aspects: 1) according to the Chongqing automobile industry cluster development, qualitative analysis of the overall competitiveness; 2) comparison of the six typical automobile industry clusters, quantitative analysis of the Chongqing automobile competitiveness of the industry cluster qualifying, analyze their relative advantages and disadvantages; 3) propose some countermeasures and recommendations to enhance competitiveness.To address the above problem, this paper uses both qualitative and quantitative analysis on the development status of automobile industry cluster in Chongqing. First of all, this paper researches key features of cluster development, such as natural resources, industrial base, the leading enterprise, R&D and policies. On this basis, the paper uses Porter's "Diamond system" model to study Chongqing automobile industry cluster's overall competitive advantages. With the further deepening of empirical research, the paper comprehensively utilizes the inter-provincial raw data, selects typical sites with the location coefficient to identify industry cluster function. Using AHP, the paper selects eleven relevant competitiveness evaluation indicators to establish a comprehensive evaluation index system. Finally, the choice of spider diagram comprehensive evaluation is taken to draw an intuitive graphics. On the basis of the graphic, the paper quantitatively analysis and evaluate the Chongqing automobile industry cluster competitiveness and relative advantages and disadvantages.The results show that: 1) according to Porter's "Diamond System," the core competitive advantages of automobile industry cluster in Chongqing manifested mainly in the opportunities, government policies and micro-car products; 2) according to visual system, emp(?)rically analyzing the automobile industry in Chongqing's advantages and disadvantages with six typical national automobile industry cluster, which the comparative advantage lies the scale of the industry and clustering functions, in the economic, technological innovation and brand evaluation factors indicators do not have a comparative advantage or disadvantage for comparison. This; conclusion explains: although the automobile industry cluster of Chongqing has a certain competitive advantage with the six typical automobile industry cluster ranked fifth, but there are still many areas for improvement. In this paper, pro(?)osed four areas for Chongqing automotive industry cluster to enhance the co(?)petitiveness.This paper focused on Chongqing automobile industry cluster development status and their relative advantages and disadvantages and corresponding competitiveness in the country with a multi-angle analysis, and based on the six clusters typical automobile industry's competitiveness horizontal empirical comparison, has a more accurate and objective study on the automobile industry cluster in Chongqing of strengths and weaknesses. As an attempt, the paper has provided a new way of thinking for its development, also provided some scientific basis and a useful reference to a certain extent academic and practical significance.
