Electronic Connector J Lean Production Management Practice In Their Chinese Factories

Lean Production (LP) is a result from Toyota's decades of manufacturing experience, which represents the direction of modern advanced manufacturing and is titled "Standard Manufacturing Method of the 21^st century". In order to having a long term advantage in fierce competition and globalization, more and more Chinese companies attach importance to LP to increase their general competences and profitability by importing LP management, including Just-In-Time, 5S and Continuous Improvement (CI), etc. Of course they meet many problems and challenges.The study for LP was from 1990s, and in advanced manufacturing there are some changes because of information and network in 2000s. This thesis illustrates the way of J Company, one of the modern advanced manufacturing companies, the leader in the world electronic connector industry, to promote LP and the opportunity and challenge when implementing LP from Japan to China.This thesis has four chapters, which contains the LP strategy of J Company in China (JC), current situation and existing problem found during the implementation and digestion of LP from Japan.The First and second chapters introduce the LP theory evolution, system characteristics and LP management methods (including JIT, Jidoka, 5S and CI) .The Third and fourth chapter states LP management experience and analyzes various kinds of opportunities and challenges in implementing LP management in JC, including experiment, performing, improvement and implementation of in LP management, including JIT, Jidoka, 5S and CI.By re-analyzing LP management experience of JC, this thesis makes some ways on promoting LP implementation in China in 21^st century.
