As an important social policy arrangement, pension scheme has been an issue of the academics and developed into a relatively maturational theory. Since 1970s, the pressure of the unsustainability of the traditional pay-as-you-go scheme, which is characteristic of its generation transition, has been triggering on-going reforms of the governments over the world. At the same time, the model selections and the economic effects become the issues in the fields of academics.According to the purpose of this dissertation, I analyzed six typical coutries around the world on the approaches of induction and deduction. In this paper, I systemically compared the common factors and differences of the pension systems and background, motivations of the reforming, the selections of the reforming paths as well as reforming measures among the six coutries. Based on the objective of the pension schemes, I also valuated their individual macro-economic effects and concluded the implications of the reforms.Further, founded on the above analysis, a review of the development and reform of the Chinese pension system and a combination of the Chinese characteristic economic and social situation, I explored the motivations for further reform and put forward some suggestions according to the reforming experiences from the typical countries to promote the future reform in China as follows: Insist on the priority of justice and take the efficiency into consideration. Continue following the direction of transferring Pay-as-you-go scheme into partial-funded scheme. Adjust scheme parameters, perfect multipillar pension system, enlarge the funding resources, and strengthen the ability of pension fund to maintain its original value and its increment, postpone the pressure of the cost of transition, quicken the steps of the construction of pension legal system and improve the harmonization of supervision to benefit more people from the pension system.
