Guanzhong Urban Group System Architecture

Urban agglomeration is a unique organizational form of geographical space in the process of urban regionalization and region urbanization as well as a sign and product of urbanization to a certain degree. In 21st century, the emergence of urban agglomeration, an inevitable trend in exploring the development path of urbanization with Chinese characteristics, is being an important supporting point of regional economic development. Urban agglomeration of Guanzhong, one of three strategic high grounds of the National Eleventh Five-Year Planning, plays an important role in supporting and driving western economic and social development.A study of urban agglomeration from four aspects of level scale structure, functions division, spatial structure and industrial selection has been made in this paper by defining the relevant theories of urban agglomeration, employing a combination of normative and empirical methods, of qualitative and quatitative analysis, of deductive and inductive methods, which provides countermeasures and suggestions for the development of urban agglomeration.This paper consists of four parts:The first part (Chapter 1) expatiates the research background, research purposes, the research train of thoughts, research methods as well as the originality of this paper.The second part (Chapters 2) elaborates the relevant conceptions and theoretical basis of urban agglomeration and defining the scope of urban agglomeration .The research direction is proposed on the basis of the analysis of the recent years'reseach achivements.The third part (Chapters 3-6) has made a study of the level scale structure, functions division, spatial structure and industry selection of Guanzhong respectively. Chapter three presents the theories of level scale structure of urban agglomeration and analyses the rates of primacy and urbanization as well as existing problems and the solutions to level scale structure of urban agglomeration; chapter four, the concepts and relevant theories of functions division of urban agglomeration, its evolution and existing problems and the suggestions for the framework of functions division of urban agglomeration; chapter five, the industrial structure and its evolution, a structural analysis of five typical cities representative by Baoji within the same urban agglomeration, countermeasures and suggestions for the framework of urban agglomeration of Guangzhong; chapter six, the theories of spatial structure of urban agglomeration, its evolution and functional characteristics, a contrast and selection of various modes of spatial structure of urban agglomeration raised by theoretical experts, a presentation of a tentative idea for spatial structure of urban agglomerationPart four (conclusion) concludes the contents and fruitful results of this thesis.
