Migrant Youth Living Conditions And Their Protection

Young rural migrant workers are a special group in the transitional period from the traditional agricultural society to modern industrial society in China.Along with the rapid development of industrialization and urbanization,young rural migrant workers have become the main force promoting the economic construction,and the number of them will be increasing.In recent years,overall plans have been made of the coordinated development of rural and urban area,and the well-off society and harmonious society are being built.Under this new situation,the problems of young rural migrant workers, including their living conditions,social status and the problems they have brought on,are becoming a hot issue or a focal issue,which arouses attention from all walks of life in our society.On one hand,young rural migrant workers have contributed to the urban development,and become the indispensable group in urban construction;on the other hand,they have not received reciprocal rights and respect which are corresponding to their contribution.They are called "young peasant laborer" at any time,and they are living at the lowest social level,belonging to disadvantaged groups of the society.So,it is essential for us to develop a better understanding of the young rural migrant workers' social status,scientifically deal with their social stratification,and make sure of social equality in order to construct a harmonious society in our country.As a result,facing up to the present situation of young rural migrant workers, becoming well acquainted with the difficulties they have confronted,and solving their problems by taking correct and effective measures will not only protect their legal rights and interests,but also contribute to the sustainable development of industrialization and urbanization.On the basis of analyzing the survival conditions of young rural migrant workers,and by using the present information,data and survey,this paper explores the reasons why they are discriminated against and how they react against these discriminations from the following aspects:labor employment,protection of the legal rights and interests, participation in political affairs,pay level,degree of assimilation,and other relevant pressing needs.Young rural migrant workers confront so many difficulties because of the following factors:social factors,imperfectness of the law and regulations,urban-centered law enforcement system,their personal quality to be improved,lack of organization,and so on.Obviously,it is not beneficial to the coordinated development of our society as well as the building of harmonious society if their difficulties are not solved,which will go against the urban and rural development,and affect the young rural migrant workers themselves.Therefore,we put forward some suggestions and corresponding strategies to solve the problems concerning the rights and interests of young rural migrant workers, such as the reformation of the present systems,strengthening service guarantee,the humanistic management,regular education and training,and so on.
