| As more and more foreign direct investment (FDI) flows into China, many scholars study on the FDI influence on Chinese economic and enterprises. Though some assert that the influence is effective, some disagree. Theory on network provides a new perspective for the study on performances and behaviors of enterprises. In this dissertation, author studied FDI influence on the performance of Chinese enterprises, based on the network theory.There are many types of relations and corresponding networks between Chinese enterprises and foreign enterprises, such as out-sourcing,technology transfer,joint R&D,joint venture (JV) and so on. This dissertation studies JV alliance network.Based on theory on FDI spill-over,alliance network and inter-partner learning within joint venture, a model about Sino-foreign JV alliances' influence on Chinese partners' performance was gave. In this model, which are studied are not just the information benefits but also control benefits that Chinese partners can get from alliances. And author both takes bi-relations and network positions into account.Author got data about Sino-foreign JV alliances in City H. 122 Chinese in the JV alliance with foreign enterprises were found. Based on these partners' and their joint ventures' financial information, variables were calculated, such as Chinese partners' sales per person,duration of the alliances,strength of the alliances, alliances number per Chinese partner , and Chinese partners' betweeness. After that, social network analysis,statistical analysis were used for model analysis and hypothesis test.The conclusions of this study are as below: First, Chinese partners' performance can be benefited from Sino-foreign JV alliances. Second, they may not get information benefits from Sino-foreign JV alliances. Third, because of Sino-foreign JV alliances, they can enjoy perfect positions in the network. Thanks to controlling over their foreign partners' communication with others, their performances are promoted. |
