This thesis is focused on the survey of automotive service industry, its market situation and development trend. Besides, based on a deep analysis on the competitive environment of automotive service business of SAIC as well as a study on the business model of the service business of international auto groups and the lessons they have learned, the thesis contributes constructive thoughts and proposals to the development strategies of SAIC's auto service business.The rapid growth of China's auto market and the increase of car population have built a solid base for the development of China's auto service industry. In terms of scale and growth trend, currently, compared with manufacturing industry, China's auto service industry has much more room for further growth. In general, the future trend lies in the fast upgrading of products as well as the combination of specialization and integration of service businesses.SAIC started to develop auto service business earlier than any other domestic auto companies and has covered a broad spectrum of businesses so far. However, since SAIC still has much to do regarding developing consumer-oriented business outside SAIC and the consolidation of resources, it needs to further sort out and integrate its service businesses. Specifically, it needs to develop manufacturing-oriented and consumption-oriented businesses. The manufacturing-oriented business model is focused on integration, which is determined by the large-scale characteristic of manufacturing organizations. The consumption-oriented business model is focused on creating value for customers, building brands and operating business with professionalism. The thesis analyzes automotive logistics, sales and finance businesses and puts forward suggestions to SAIC on how to improve the interaction between auto manufacturing industry and service industry, construct a business model which is in line with the advantages of SAIC and the characteristics of its business and achieve the change of its growth model.
