Corporate social responsibility is that firms uphold the interests of other stakeholders when it chase the goal of"maximum corporate value", such as the interests of stockholder, employee, creditor,government, community and so on. Nowadays, the social responsibility conscious of our country's firms is weak, and many firms do not want to perform social responsibility, even think it as an obstacle for the target of"maximum corporate value". However, with the social economic growth and people's life level rise, the performance of corporate social responsibility play a more and more important role.This paper chooses 593 companies listed in Shanghai Stock Exchange in 2007 as a swatch and researches on CSR from the view of economics. The paper consists of three main parts, which are theoretical analysis, empirical research and the applications. The reminder of this paper is organized as follows:Chapter 1 briefly introduces the issues, implications, contents and methodologies, as well as the innovations and shortages of the paper;Chapter 2 traces the origins of CSR idea and the debates on CSR, then discloses that CSR is an inexorable result of economic development and is a revolution in the understanding of the nature of corporations;Chapter 3 dissertates the relation between corporate social responsibility and corporate value,ready for empirical study hereinafter; Chapter 4 chooses 593 companies listed in Shanghai Stock Exchange in 2007 as a swatch , sets up economic model and demonstrates the relation between corporate social responsibility and corporate value,furthermore indicates that behavior of fulfiling corporate social responsibility is profitable to companies; Chapter 5 concludes the research and tables relevant proposals; Chapter 6 points some questions to further research.
