Nowadays corporate social responsibility (CSR) is drawing increasing concernfrom both theory and practice areas and CSR, as an exotic concept, is always studiedby China scholars with the pace of west. In recent years more and more attention hasbeen paid to the impact of CSR on the corporate performance and whether theequilibrium point could be found in the process of CSR study has become animportant content. On the other hand, food industry, the important and specialindustry, has intimate relationship with people’s life and healthy and this industry isnot only the foundation of living and advance for human beings but also the basiccondition for national development and social stability. So all these referred aboveprovide the basis for the study of the influence the CSR had on the enterpriseperformance on the case of public company of food industry.The paper starts form CSR and its related concepts and then undertakensystematic collection and analysis of significant references about the empiricalresearch which is about the impact of CSR on the corporate performance from variousviews of point. Next,based on some theories such as corporate governance theory、low carbon economy theory、 welfare economics theory、 Confucian socialresponsibility theory and stakeholder theory, this paper analyses the effect of CSR oncorporate actions and presents a brief introduction of food companies’ status ofimplementation. Given all the theories referred before and the special characteristicsof food industry, the paper establishes a set of evaluation index system of CSR andafter the inference analysis, we come to a conclusion that there is a lack of socialdatabase about corporate social responsibility. Because of some conditional limit, inthis paper, I select public company’s financial statements and its relevant dataavailable online as the object of study and verify the index evaluation system by theuse of AHP (Analytical Hierarchy Process)、Factor Analysis and cluster analysis.Finally, regarding corporate performance as dependent variable, the corporate social responsibility as independent variable, the enterprise scale、economic level ofcorporate location、enterprise risk level and nature of company as moderator variable,age and growth of enterprise as control variable, this paper carry out the empiricalstudy of the impact the CSR has on corporate performance. From the results of thedescriptive statistics、correlative analysis、delamination regression analysis and groupregression analysis of all the data we have with SPSS, CSR of food corporate isproved to be the positive factor for corporate performance and the impact CSR has onenterprise performance is positively moderated both by economic level of corporatelocation and the nature of enterprise but the scale of corporate contributes nothing.
