In the context of globalization, supply chain is also moving towards this direction. On the one hand, this trend brings to enterprises the worldwide demand, which is beneficial to the expansion of a business and the pursuit of higher profits;on the other hand, the diversification of customer demand also confronts corporate operations with challenges in such fields as production scheduling, product design, information management, etc. As the core activity of business operations, quality management is vital for firms to achieve customer satisfaction and realize customer value;for any enterprises to obtain superior performance and sustainable growth, continuous attention must be paid to activities in the field. Then, the question is,what is the effects of supply chain globalization on quality management and firm performance? Answering this question is of great significance to Chinese enterprises operating in the system of global economy, and thus becomes the topic of this paper.Firstly, the paper made some modifications to Flynn et al.(1994) model by adding the factor of globalization on the basis of thorough review of literature on global supply chain and quality management. Then, according to existing studies and the latest business practices, the paper put forward the conceptual models with regard to the relationships between supply chain globalization, quality management and firm performance, and made hypotheses as follows:●The measures taken by firms to cope with supply chain globalization are significantly correlated with quality management.●The measures taken by firms to cope with supply chain globalization significantly influences firm performance.●Quality management has significant influences on firm performance.●The impacts of the measures taken by firms to cope with supply chain globalization on the activities of quality management are different. The paper mainly employed empirical methods to test the hypotheses with the help of SPSS and AMOS software. Most of the hypotheses were confirmed with others rejected. The analysis demonstrated that the measures taken by firms to cope with supply chain globalization indeed have significant influences on firm performance and correlate notably with quality management practice. The paper also proved that, for Chinese enterprises, quality management activities exert significant influences on firm performance, though the method of the influences varies according to the type of firms. This study also found that relationships between the activities of quality management are intricate and the degrees of those influences that the measures taken by firms to cope with supply chain globalization exert on those activities are also different. The paper proved that supply chain globalization significantly influences quality management. In practice, firms should take the opportunity to strengthen internal quality management, selecting some activities as the breakthrough according to the degrees of the influences of globalization. The study of this paper,as a whole, possesses certain tutorial significance for Chinese firms in dealing with supply chain globalization.
