Along with society's development, people realize that individual member's lacking of responsibility will make social order can not run normally. Groups'survival, personal fate and moral level of groups depend on a strong sense of responsibility and obligation and faithful performance. Accordingly, the society calls for the social responsibility of the enterprises, while the enterprises also recognize the importance of employees'sense of responsibility. As personnel is the first productive force of the modern enterprise, the enterprise's competition in a certain extent is the competition of excellent employees. The level of employees'sense of responsibility can affect their performance, and then affect the overall performance and interests of enterprises. Therefore it is important for the enterprises to strengthen employees'training, and select workers with high sense of responsibility. As an important component of the big five personality factors, the sense of responsibility is always a hot topic in management and psychological academic area. The sense of responsibility is mainly originated from western countries and studied in western cultures. Western scholars define the sense of responsibility different meanings in different ways. Some Chinese scholars also define the sense of responsibility. However, there are both some similarities and also some differences in the domestic and abroad definitions. Both kinds of definitions emphasize responsibility, but the western definition emphasis on moral content more, while the domestic definition emphasis on responsibility of group life. This study suggests that the sense of responsibility is individual's psychological tendency to undertake the required obligations of their roles active and consciously based on certain cognitive level and values. Because of the differences of individual and environmental factors, employees'level of responsibility are different and also directly affect their job performance level.Adopting literature analysis, interview and questionnaire, this study discusses the model of workers'sense of responsibility under Chinese background, the relationship between workers' sense of responsibility and their job performances, the dimensions of sense of responsibility of different demography variables. In data processing, the study uses different kinds of methods, such as description analysis, exploratory factor analysis, correlation analysis, regression analysis and variance analysis. The survey concludes 203 knowledge-based workers in enterprise (or unit) of xi'an area. This study adopts the scale mainly divided into two parts:the scale of sense of responsibility based on interviewing of employees and the scale of job performance based on revising of the study of predecessors. The sense of responsibility is measured from four aspects:responsible for organization, colleagues, oneself and work. For measuring individual performances, it concludes not not only task performances concerned with the working contents and relationship performances concerned with the relevant employees, but also distal performances concerned with the employees potential ability.According to the empirical results, the preliminary conclusion of this study is:First, the study finds that the workers'sense of responsibility under Chinese culture background includes four factors:sense of responsibility to organization, sense of responsibility to colleagues, sense of responsibility to oneself and sense of responsibility to work.It has both similar dimensions and different dimensions compared to the existent research home and abroad.Second, by using correlation analysis and regression analysis, it finds that: sense of responsibility to organization, sense of responsibility to work and sense of responsibility to oneself positively correlated with task performances, and sense of responsibility to oneself has the highest correlation; sense of responsibility to oneself and sense of responsibility to colleagues positively correlated with relationship performances, and sense of responsibility to colleagues has the higher correlation; sense of responsibility to organization and sense of responsibility to work positively correlated with distal performances, and sense of responsibility to organization has the higher correlation.Third, Through variance analysis, it finds that the knowledge-based workers'sense of responsibility has strong relations to gender, age, marital status and work experience and little relation to education background.
