From Drucker (1959) established the term of knowledge worker, the management of knowledge worker has been discussed by a lot of researchers. But the main thrust of the research focused on the importance of knowledge work and knowledge workers, and management of knowledge work and knowledge workers had been gotten little attention. Drucker(1999) had mentioned that in the 21st century workers are the knowledge workers, and the big challenge to 21st century is to enhance the knowledge worker's productivity. Drucker has pointed out that the country competitive advantage to be decided its knowledge worker's productivity in 21 century. The study of the knowledge work and knowledge worker management has the theory value and the practice significance.This dissertation utilizes three kinds of knowledge value chain model to study the knowledge worker management. The full text may be divided into three parts: The literature review, the theory modeling, and the hypotheses.In the literature review,we have carried on the comprehensive review to these three subjects literature, and had pointed out the achievement and the insufficiency to every subject.In the theory modeling, we first established our own knowledge value chain model on the basis of the literature reviewing of knowledge value chain; Then, we used continuum to found three kinds of knowledge values chain model; Next, we defined the knowledge work on the basis of knowledge value chain. Finally, We utilized the knowledge value chain model to solve the problem of knowledge worker productivity evaluation.In the hypothetical part, we mainly devoted to find the relations of the knowledge value chain enterprise, the knowledge worker, and the knowledge process. We got the following results: Among the three knowledge value enterprise, the independent knowledge value chain enterprise's knowledge worker prefer in knowledge sharing; the parallel knowledge value chain enterprise's knowledge worker prefer in the knowledge innovation; the support knowledge value chain enterprise's knowledge worker should prefer in the knowledge gain. Three kinds of knowledge value chain enterprise's knowledge workers in knowledge application not remarkable difference. The relation between autonomous degree and the knowledge activity is positive. The relation between the enterprise human resources effort and knowledge process is positive. Manager is willing to carry on the knowledge innovation than the professional and the technician; Manager's initiative is more stronger to acquire knowledge than the professional and the technician; Manager's initiative is more stronger to share knowledge than the professional and the technician.Compared with prior research, the innovations of this dissertation are included:1. Established the knowledge value chain(KVC) model. On the basis of the comparison of the predecessors'study , we established the knowledge value chain model from the process, the value, the organizational support and the strategy, which synthesized the predecessors'research merits and rejected their shortcoming.2. Created three knowledge value chain (KVC) enterprise model. Through the research of the relationship of the value chain, the material value chain and the enterprise value chain, the enterprise should be divided into three categories : the supporting knowledge value chain enterprise, the parallel knowledge value chain and the independent knowledge value chain. This three knowledge value chain enterprise model is unique and the core of this study. The definition of knowledge workers, the evaluation of the knowledge worker productivity, and the study of knowledge worker management principles, are based on the three knowledge value chain enterprise model.3. Defined knowledge worker on the basis of the knowledge value chain model and three KVC enterprise model. Knowledge worker is who acquire,innovate,share and apply knowledge on the knowledge value chain, and he has to make decision by himself. Knowledge worker definition must considered in the framework of the knowledge value chain, the knowledge worker who is not only knowledgeable worker, but also he must create value. Among the supporting knowledge value chain enterprise, the parallel knowledge value chain enterprise and independent knowledge value chain enterprise, knowledge worker is different to each other.4. Provided the method to evaluating the knowledge worker productivity. According the aphorism of Lao Tze,"The difficult develops naturally from the easy, and the great from the small; So the sage, by dealing with the small, achieves the great", we used our knowledge value chain model and the three knowledge value chain enterprise model to develop a method to evaluating knowledge worker productivity.5. Provided the principles of the knowledge worker management. Among the three KVC enterprises, the supporting knowledge value chain enterprise should make their knowledge workers get the opportunity to do knowledge-acquiring job, the knowledge-based parallel value chain enterprise should make their knowledge workers get the opportunity to do knowledge-innovating job, the independent knowledge value chain enterprise should make their knowledge workers get the opportunity to do knowledge-sharing job.
