This thesis discusses the progress of traditional Chinese and modern medicalresearches on Insulin Resistance and Insulin Resistance syndrome, and theintervention of Chinese medicine on Type 2 Diabetic Mellitus. The researches on Insulin Resistance and Insulin Resistance syndrome usingTraditional Chinese medicine include theoretic, clinical and laboratory studies. Thethesis also includes: a systemic comparison to review the progress in the past tenyears, a simple analysis on the problem and shortages of the researches, and asuggestion on the future direction. In the second part of the thesis, a summary is made on the definition, history, etiology, pathogenesis, investigation, diagnostic standard, relation with otherdiseases, and treatment of Insulin Resistance and Insulin Resistance syndrome inmodern medicine in recent years. In the clinical study section, an analysis and evaluation on the 78 cases ofInsulin Resistance syndrome in our hospital is performed to identify and ascertainthe characteristic of its distribution, the regulation on its transmission inpatterns, the effect of TCM, its treatment method and prevention. The finding showsthat the development of Type 2 Diabetic Mellitus in pathogenesis is usually fromexcess to deficiency. In the early stage of the diseases, there are usually excessivepatterns. The most common pattern is Phlegm Heat with Blood Stagnation. The diseasesmay then change into both excess and deficiency at the same time. Qi and Yin becomedeficient, and may develop into Five Zangs Qi and Yin Deficiency as well. BloodStagnation becomes more dominant at this stage. The evaluation also indicates thatTCM can intervene the insulin resistance in Type 2 Diabetic Mellitus effectively, lower blood sugar level, lower blood cholesterols, improve the insulin resistance, and reduce clinical symptoms. A combined Chinese and Western medical treatmentstrategyshouldbeanidealtreatmentmethodforInsulinResistanceinType2 DiabeticMellitus.
