Yaotongling suppository is a kind of Chinese medicine compound preparation, which consist of six herbs such as Cortex Cinnamomi, Radix Angelicae Dahuricae, Radix Aconiti Preparata, Rhizoma Curcumae Longae, and has the function of warming the channels and dredge the meridians, expeling coldness and relieving pain. It is indicated for the treatment of back and leg pain which is produced by Lumbar disc herniation. Under the guidance of the theories of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Pharmacy, and with the help of the modern pharmaceutical technology, Yaotongling suppository has been reaserched on pre-clinical pharmacy. On the basis of the function and treatment as well as the characers of the effective component of the herbs, the preparation process is designed to studying the extraction of volatile oil, alcohol-extract and water-extract, the optimum extract conditions about alchohol-extract and water-extract were selected by using orthogonal design which use quite a few assessing norms to evaluate them comprehensively. At the same time the optimal condensing and moulding conditions were screened. The quality standard was set up, which includes the thin layer chromatography identification of three Chinese herbs in the prescription and the determination of the content of Cinnamaldehyde assayed by HPLC, which accomplished the systematic methodology.Preliminary stability research had kept on 3 months, put the samples under the long experiment at room temperature, the results indicate that Yaotongling suppository was stable and the packing was suitable. All of these studies indicade that the preparation procedure is reasonable and practical, the standard is controllable, the quality of the sample is steady on the whole as well.
