Mahkota Dewa (Phaleria macrocarpa [Scheff.] Boerl). Its leaves, fruits and stems are used for medicinal treatment. According to the studies conducted, Mahkota Dewa proved capable of controlling kidney disorders, liver diseases, cancer, heart diseases, diabetes mellitus, arthritis, prostatosis, high blood pressure and so forth. the pit of Mahkota Dewa is extremely poisonous, never presumed to be a medicinal substance. But so far, the studies on its chemical constituents are not reported, Its chemical components were studied here.l. Extraction and Isolation. The alcohol extraction of the pit of Mahkota Dewa was extracted respectively by chloroform, ethyl acetate and water. The portion of chloroform was condensed to ointment by reduction pressure, then the ointment was analyzed by silica chromatogram. Three compounds were achieved namely lauric acid (HG-1), palmiticacid (HG-2), ethyl stearate (HG-3). After the portion of water was evaporated to dryness to ointment by reduction pressure, acetone was added into the ointment and it was stired constantly. The portion of acetone was condensed to ointment by reduction pressure, then the ointment was analyzed by silica chromatogram. Three compound were achieved namely β -sitosterol-3-0-β-D-glucoside(HG-4),4,4'-Dihydroxy-2-methoxybenzophenone-6-O-a -D-glucopyranoside (HG-5), kaempferol-3-O- β- D-glucopyranoside(HG-6). In the portion of water Mangiferin(HG-7)and glucose(HG-8) were achieved. All these compounds were separated for the first time from this plant and compound(HG-5) is a new compound. 2. Isolation technology. The optional process of extracting the effective component Mangiferin(HG-7) from the pit of Mahkota Dewa is selected by using test: the extraction is conducted twice, 6 hours each time; the temperature is 60°C; the ethanol density is 95%; the crude residue was suspended in 10-14 times acetic ester for 3 times, and then purified by ethanol for 2-3 times.3. content determination. To study on the chemical compounds of the volatile oils of Mahkota Dewa, the volatile oils were obtained by steam distillation ,and the chemical compounds were analyzed by GC-MS; There were 22 and 27 kinds of compounds in...
