Carbonized traditional Chinese medicine is unique in the world, which can be used to treat many kinds of haemorrhage symptoms and other diseases. Pollen Typhae Carbonisatus is the product of Pollen Typhae and has been used for a long time. The clinical practice has proved that Pollen Typhae Carbonisatus had significant effects in hemostasis. It can be used for the treatment of blood vomiting, leaking and other haemorrhage disorders.The subject of this research was Pollen Typhae(Typha angustifolia L). We studied the history of the craft and the primary intention of the predecessors; summarized their experiences and clinical comprehensions, which provided effective experiences to our research. We studied the craft, the quality control and the fingerprint pictures of Pollen Typhae, Pollen Typhae Parch and Pollen Typhae Carbonisatus systematically and thoroughly.Based on the theory of traditional Chinese medicine, we demonstrated the effective part of Pollen Typhae ,Pollen Typhae Parch and Pollen Typhae Carbonisatus through the chemical separation and pharmacodynamical screening. Through the evaluation of the quality and quantity of the effective part, we selected the optimum method by the orthogonal designed experiment: Pollen Typhae Carbonisatus was roasted 8 minutes at 210℃ and Pollen Typhae Parch was roasted 12 minutes at 150 °C. We also formulated the standard operation practice (SOP) scientifically and precisely. The method of quality control was established based on this research.According to the systematic research on the herbal pieces description, identification, and qualitative and quantitative analysis of Pollen Typhae ,Pollen Typhae Carbonisatus and Pollen Typhae Parch, we formulated the appropriate methods of the quality control for them respectively. We inspected the preliminary stability and the accelerative stability 3 batches of samples. We also compared the influence of the different wrapping materials on the herbal pieces, including conventional plastic, paper and aluminum foil. According to the tiny differences in the quality and the cost, we recommended that conventional plastic should be taken as the wrapping material for Pollen Typhae , Pollen Typhae Carbonisatus and Pollen Typhae Parch. Furthermore, we performed preliminary research on the fingerprint pictures of Pollen Typhae and its processing herbal pieces. Based on the fingerprint pictures of Pollen Typhae ,Pollen Typhae Carbonisatus and Pollen Typhae Parch by HPLC, we tentatively proposed the fingerprint pictures of Pollen Typhae Carbonisatus and its processing herbal pieces, of which, specificity was tested by examining the confusable herbal pieces. Based on the work mentioned above, we established the standard fingerprint pictures of each herbal piece.
