Vine herbs have been extensively used in Chinese traditional medicine, which occupy an important place in prevetion and cure of collateral diseases. Therefore, the research for vine herbs should produce a reference to the cure of collateral diseases.Moreover, literature reports about the medicinal property of vine herbs have not been consulted, the thesis emphasizes on the property of vine herbs, including the four natures, five kinds of flavor, meridian tropism, and relevance analysis among the property and function, indication, chemical constituents, in order to discover the internal relations of them and provide a reference for the clinical practice and development of vine herbs.The thesis contains 3 chapters.Chapter 1: Literature review. The thesis summarizes progress in research on chemical constituents, pharmacological action and clinical application of vine herbs, and sums up the application situation of vine herbs in patent medicines on the market.Chapter 2: Literature analysis research.By means of bibliography and statistics, the thesis collected 255 kinds of vine herbs in 40 families.1 Medicinal property: The study shows vine herbs with warm and neutral nature in four natures, bitter and acrid flavor in five kinds of flavor, returning Liver Meridian in meridian tropism is more than vine herbs with other corresponding property.2 Functions and indications: The most important functions of vine herbs are expelling wind, removing dampness, promoting blood, detoxicating, alleviating pain, clearing away heat, relieving swelling and dredging collaterals, which produce good curative effects on traumatic injury, wind-dampness syndrome, carbuncle, swelling, sores, and all kinds of pains, inflammation and hemorrhage.3 Relevance analysis: Usually,vine herbs with cold and warm nature contain alkaloid, neutral nature contain triterpenes and flavonoid, cool nature contain flavonoid and alkaloid. Vine herbs with warm nature are good at expelling wind, removing dampness, promoting blood, alleviating pain, and dredging collaterals, which are suitable to cure wind-dampness syndrome, traumatic injury, arthralgia, irregular menstruation, epigastralgia, and abdominal pain. Neutral nature are good at detoxicating, removing dampness, promoting blood, relieving swelling, and can cure wind-dampness syndrome, traumatic injury, carbuncle, swelling, sores. Cold and cool nature are best for clearing away heat, detoxicating, and can cure carbuncle, swelling, and sores. Vine herbs with bitter flavor usually contain alkaloid, and are expert in removing dampness, expelling wind, detoxicating, clearing away heat, promoting blood, alleviating pain, which are suitable to cure wind-dampness syndrome, traumatic injury, carbuncle, swelling, sores, epigastralgia, abdominal pain and fracture. Acrid flavor usually contain lignanoids and terpene, and are expert in expelling wind, removing dampness, promoting blood, alleviating pain, and can cure wind-dampness syndrome and traumatic injury. Sweet flavor usually contain flavonoid and triterpenes, and are good at detoxicating, clearing away heat, excreting the water, relieving swelling, which can cure galactostasis, disuria, oedema, and diarrhea. Vine herbs entering Liver Meridian usually contain alkaloid, and are good at expelling wind, removing dampness, alleviating pain, promoting blood, detoxicating, which can cure wind-dampness syndrome, traumatic injury, and arthralgia.Chapter 3: Summary and Discussion. The characters of vine herbs'medicinal proterty, functions, indications and the relevance of them are summarized, and the focal points of future research for vine herbs are put forward.
