Hong Ying's Novel Of Tragic Explore

Targeted at Hongying's novel, this paper aims to illustrate the tragic theme, images, its causes and artistic features from the perspective of tragedy with the methods of close reading so as to understand the unique creativity and kaleidoscope in her works. This paper can be divided into four chapters.The introduction is a literary review on the writer Hongying and the current study of her works, thus leading to the main content and significance of this paper.The first chapter mainly discusses basically the tragic theme of her novels from the aspects of emotion, wanderer, suffering and redemption.The second chapter mainly analyses two different tragedy images in her works——the bold, crazy females and the ugly indecent males under the shadow of women. The female image includes three types:the perplexed youth, the rebellious manic and the sufferer.The third chapter focuses on analyzing the causes of tragedies of the characters in her novels. Some characters ended in tragedy because of such subjective factors as world outlook, personalities, ways of thinking, etc of people from different cultural backgrounds; some characters had been living in the periphery of society all the time and lingered among different racial and cultural backgrounds due to their own social statuses, which led to their not being accepted and understood by society and finally their tragedies; some characters pursued the ideal love which could not be realized in real sex and love, and thus resulted in their tragedy and the conflicts between two genders.The fourth chapter explores the causes of the tragic theme and creative features in her novels, i.e., the author's sense of tragedy, and the artistic features of her novels, i.e., the very well combination between the techniques of telling stories and imagism and the author's sense of tragedy. That is the unique feature of the author's tragedy art.The conclusion part makes a comment as objective as possible, which not only affirms the values and points out the shortcomings, but also tries to specify the meaning of her creation.
