Organic Concept Of The Modern Western Furniture Design Study

Western modern furniture has gone through exploration development,to improve the maturity of 100 years of the development process, which can not be separated from the design of the driving force, and show a different design idea in different historical stages. Based on post-modern modes of society and human thought as a whole changes and technology much development, as well as the theory to refinement, this article proposed modern western concept of organic furniture design ideas. The "organic idea" in furniture design began in the 1930s, it concerns the essence of furniture design problems, in the 90's "the new organic idea" under the evolved background, people pay more attention to the aesthetic and spiritual needs as well as the design of sustainable development, it consider the economic,social,technological,cultural,aesthetic and so on, and produce the new ideas. Take road of "the new organic idea" will bring new furniture design movement, and to promote the furniture fundamental research and the design development.In the modern style multiplication of furniture design, it is designed to address today's concerns and reflect on the many issues to provide much useful ideas.The main study methods by the historical methodology,the case methodology,the overlapping methodology, with expounded the organic idea forms in historical process,for example the type design,demonstrate the relation in organic ides of architecture and furniture design fields. And by literature methodology and comparison methodology, trying to revelation and open out the organic idea furniture design method.The paper has general studied the architecture design Organic Idea and proposed the modern furniture design Organic Idea based on it. Organic Idea is proved having important effect for the furniture design through concluding the ideology,manifestation and effect. It obtains concrete manifestation of Organic Idea in the different historical stage through the especial analysed the five master's thought and works with F·L·Wright,Alvar Aalto,Charles Eames,Yrjo Kukkapuro,Philippe Starck. Finally analyzing connotation of new Organic Idea. In the time of developing Organic Idea,the function,shape,material and craft,decoration,art,experience and innovative design are the new requirements on furniture design and are also the new road to "new Organic Idea".
