With the development of teaching Chinese as a second language,the TCSL teaching material have been developed constantly. As a kind of special teaching material in training the students'listening and oral skills,the TCSL audio-visual-oral material obtained a great progress too. But as a kind of new type material which extensively makes use of the multimedia, we haven't got a thorough understanding on it. Obviously,the audio-visual-oral meterial will be the tendency of the language material with the technology development in the future. So the study on it will have a great significance on TCSL.This paper chooses "Qin Huai Ren Jia "(A Multi-skill Chinese Course for junior and senior students" and "Home With Kids "(A Multi-skill Chinese Course) as the objects of the study because both of them adopted short television drama as the source of the text. And the paper respectively makes a compare on their text content and video content in order to find the merit and deficiency of the books. At last the paper makes some useful advices on the audio-visual-oral material.The paper specifically analyses the arrangement, content course and use-pattern of the two material and it gets some objective evaluation on both of them.It can be found that this two teaching material adopted two different compile methods-intensive visual material and intensive audio material. And all the specific content was arranged due to them. In general, "Home With Kids "followed one of the morden language ideas which is to combine the patten, function, intention and culture together effectively. While the "Qin Huai Ren Jia" kept to the traditional audio-visual teaching method.Based on the analysis, we can find that the advanced multimedia should be used effectively to promote the development of audio-visual-oral material. And the editor can try to edit a kind of three-dimensional material which contains intensive visual, extensive visual and audio-visual-oral material. At the same time, in order to solve the problem of irregular vocabulary and grammar in the film and television pieces, objective and scientific standard in language, vocabulary and grammar should be built.
