Naxi Dongba Classical Annotation The Complete Works Of Greetings Words

Beatitudes are the words used by Dongba to pray for avoiding disaster or getting blessing for people from the god, nature or ancestor. Through these beatitudes, we can not only see people and Dongba's admiration to the god and nature, but also find out their pursuit for happy life and wishes for aegis from god. The beatitude words in Dongba scripture are abundant and of various combinations. Also they are of fixed or similar regulations. Research these regulations will help us to find out the situation and feature of character used in Dongba scripture. This paper contains six chapters. In chapter 1, An Annotated Collection of Naxi Dongba Manuscripts and the beatitude words used in it are introduced simply;also the research background of Dongba scripture as well as the research method of this paper is presented in this part. From chapter 2 to chapter 5 is the detailed analysis to various kinds of character usage in beatitudes. In chapter 6 is conclusion. Based on the research of the first hundred volumes of An Annotated Collection of Naxi Dongba Manuscripts, we divide the frequent beatitudes into several kinds as follow:praying for longevity, praying for health and richness, praying for more offspring and others. We sort out and research the usage situation of beatitude words in basis of how the language units are recorded by Dongba characters, the corresponding relation of language and characters, characters figure and characters sequence. At last, we analyze the factors leading to character differences such as the regular law and requirement of writing system development, the interaction between language and characters, the difference of writer, the difference of region, the different understanding from different reader.
