Hu National Cultural Soft Power Thinking

Cultural diversity is a basic characteristic of today's world, the position and role of culture in the comprehensive national strength has become increasingly prominent, cultural development of our country is facing a serious situation. In this background, the Party Central leadership with Comrade Hu Jintao as General Secretary put forward the strategic thought of "enhancing soft power of Chinese culture " in the report of the Seventeenth Party Congress. This thought has absorbed and learned the ideology of western "cultural soft power" and the ideology of ancient Chinese "soft power" on the basis of adhering to the cultural thought of Marxism. The main contents of this thought are: the target, the significance, the principle and the path. The target of enhancing soft power of Chinese culture is to achieve the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and to realize ultimately the people's all-round and free development, the significance is to improve our national cohesion and creativity, to enhance our international competitiveness, and to promote the sound and fast development of economic society. We should take the concept of scientific development as guiding ideology and take harmony as the basic concept, to build the socialist core value system hard, to build the harmonious culture hard, to carry forward the Chinese culture hard, and to promote cultural innovation positively. The thought of enhancing soft power of Chinese culture has important theoretical and practical value. In theory, this thought has developed and abandoned the ideology of western "cultural soft power" and the ideology of ancient Chinese "soft power", enriched and developed the Marxist cultural theory. In reality, it has a profound significance in developing our national culture and constructing a new cultural order in harmonious world.
