Communicative competence is the main purpose of learning Chinese as a second language. Due to the limit of their language proficiency, junior learners of Chinese depend to a large extent on the primary Chinese spoken textbooks,in which the design of the text session best reflects daily communication activities. From the angle of language communicative form, this article gives "topic" a new meaning, that is a reflection of the communicative form of the text session. In this article, the topic is divided into there categories:functional topic, narrative topic and view topic.On this basis,this article gives an analysis on the present situation of the choice of topics in the primary oral textbooks. Meanwhile, an analysis on the design of the content of the topics is also made from the angle of culture and vocabulary. Accordingly, this essay summarize the problems in the choice of topics in the elementary oral materials and gives some opinions. Functional topics is account for the bulk of all topics in primary Chinese Spoken textbooks. As for the preparation of the content, the texts should pay attention to the combination of the scientificity and practicality and delight. On the one hand, the grade distributions of words and hyper-outline of the ratio of number of words should be appropriate. On the other hand, practicality and delight should also given attention to and the texts should include more culture factors.The study of Chinese oral for students,depends not only on the materials but also the oral classroom direction. In the classroom,it is necessary to inspire students' interests,so the topics should capture the attention of learners. Therefore,this paper makes an investigation on students,aimed to find students'preference. Moreover,this thesis examines different students' groups, such as students from different culture background and students of different sexes, in order to give implications to oral teaching.
