The basic task of the primary spoken Chinese lesson is to train students in communicative skills, while the exercises of the oral communication is the introduction. So the paper studies the exercises of three sets of oral teaching materials which are the reprensentative ones in teaching Chinese as a foreign language, and analysizes them based on the statistics and comparative approach, combining the relative communicative theory, which mainly proceeds from the following two aspects.The first part focuses on after-school practice settings of the three primary spoken Chinese language textbooks and makes an comtemplation and analysis of them from the pespective of communication,which is a three-pronged analysis:one is the inspection and analysis of the setting of the exercises of voice, vocabulary and grammar(three elements of lanuage); another is the inspection and analysis of the practice of sentence, speaking, passage(from the unit of communication to analysize), and the third is the study and analysis of the mechannical, understanding and communicative practice(from the study law of learners to analysize).The second part makes an assessment of the settings of those exercise through questionnaires and interviews, the main respodents of which are the users of the teaching materials: the teachers and students. It tries to draw on useful views to the exercises of the primary spoken Chinese textbooks on the basis of that, hoping it will provide some references to the preparation of teaching materials of teaching Chinese as a foreign language.
