Taiwan Literature And Cultural Image And Identity

Taiwan is combined with the special history, space, economic and ideological factors. From the diachronic point of view, this article interpreted the different literary texts in different periods of Taiwan. Through the image of these works, this paper outlines the cultural image of Taiwan. This article will define the cultural image of Taiwan as "the eternal wanderer."From the general sense, the identity is to discuss of discrete identity or status of disadvantaged groups. This article is not used from this point of view the concept of identity. This article affirmed the concept of cultural identity with the structural features. In the re-interpretation of the different literary texts, we find the main line of identity. Although the works at different times among the main line performed for different theme, the existence of the problem of identity is permanent. It reveals that the cultural identity exists as a structural problem. Cultural identity is not always the performance of the overall cultural identity, in different historical contexts, the specific work only performed one aspect of cultural identity of the difficulties or anxiety. It would appear that different text in different periods characterized some aspects of cultural identity recognition difficulties.Thus, this paper visited the national cultural identity, class cultural identity, local culture identity, popular culture identity and politics cultural identity in Taiwan literature. This article summarized that the theme of collective cultural identity vanished gradually in Taiwan literature and the theme of cultural identity of individual recognition was growing trend highlights. From the perspective of relationship in identity, social identity can be seen that there is more and more problems, making the individual's identity can not be completed. Even the ethnic relations and class contradictions are in the case of relaxation, there are still lingering individual identity of anxiety.Taiwan literature has its own uniqueness, however, Taiwan literature is just a very important tributaries of Chinese literature. It remains under the influence of Chinese culture. In Taiwan's various works of literature, there are different levels of expression of the development of Chinese culture. Even in the collision of Chinese and Western civilizations and cultures, Taiwan literature also showed its own Chinese character.Taiwan's "Eternal Wanderers" image and identity crisis have shown a certain degree of universal significance. The individual is under great pressure in front of the cultural identity of homogenization and the blind acceptance. The irreconcilable contradictions between the great pressure and the full free, harmonious development of individuals may represent the general identity crisis of current human, which may be faced by anyone who has self-consciousness of himself.
