In the WeiJin period, many new words were composed byusing the suffix Zi or Fu. These new words enable a connection be-tween what preceded WeiJin period and what followed it.When two modal adverbs are used together, the unit of thesetwo adverbs has the character of a two - syllable word, and thecharacter of a phrase as well. That is a transition and it shows Chi-nese vocabulary's vagueness and motion.Modal adverb's grammatical function is affected by its gram-matical position and context. When different kinds of modal adverbsare used together, their grammatica1 function is not in same levelbut in different levels. Their sequences can not be changed. In Shi Shuo Xin Yu, there are few sentences with modal ad-verbs and modal particles together. It reflects talker's languagesty1e in that period and also shows that language form style of ShiShuo Xin Yu is almost a colloguial one.
