| This dissertation is to study the relationship between Turkish military and politics in the latter years of the ottoman Empire. This is rather surprising considering the importance of war and military in the history of Ottoman.Military reform were events of major importance in the latter years of the ottoman empire which maintained the support of the principal groups of the ruling class,making it possible for reform being applied far outside the military sphere.The needs of military reform supplied the impulse for the polities reform not only of the institutions of goverment but political system as w-ell.The reform of the Ottoman empire was a classic example of military-led modernization which was character of relationship between Ottoman military and politics. The thesis deals with the relation of military education to politics and the official role in the process of moderning Turkish politcs.The officer corps convinced them to be the vanguard of a new enlightment,based on the adoption of western techiques and thought patterns through military education The officers,embracing western thoughts,were energetic,ambitous,loyal to revolution,and devoted a great attention to moderning armed forces and political system,and played a significance role in the process of struggling against Sultanic absoloutism and disrupting an old political institution for the new institution to function and establishing Turkish republic.The thesis rightly emphasizes the improtance of military elements over the political one in determining the development of Turkish politics for modernization. The thesis show that war is usually integrated as a contingent factor,but not as a systematic process that can influence the ottoman empire development Accountsof Ottoman′s development mention the impact of Italian-Turkish war,Balkan wars,and world war I on the fate of political figures and the rise and decline of political power and transition of political structure in Turkey. |
