Shang And Zhou Bronze The Earthenware Vessel Early Theory

A important type of bronze cooking vessels in Shang and Zhou Dynasty is bronze Yan. This essay is based on bronze Yan from archaeological excavation and description quotation. Archaeological typology was used to settle the bronze yan and classify them into 9 periods: Erligand culture period, Yinxu culture period, early Western Zhou, the middle of Western Zhou, later Western Zhou to early Spring & Autumn period, the middle of Spring & Autumn period, the early and the middle stage of Warring states period, later stage of warring states period. The charater-istics of bronze yan of every period are analysed and concluded on the basis of these periods. An original research is made on bronze yan' s nan^ usage^ origin evolution N position and effect in bronze ritual vessels, and region distribution.
