In the graduation thesis,I want to take Zha Liang-zheng's translated poetry as an introduction to probe into the development and the trend of the language of free verse written in the vernacular. I want to approach the problem from two angles including the external form and the choice of words. Selecting translated poetry as an introduction,I think, can make the approachment more comprehensive. Because the development of free verse written in vernacular was greatly influensed by the translation from the west. The language of the translated poetry and the free verse written in vernacular have shared the same experience of the painful evolution from classical Chinese to vernacular.Translated poetry is part of the achievement of the new verse. It makes the direct and main contribution to the new verse because it has improved the capability of the expression of vernacular. For vernacular has the tendency of prose from its birth, our approachment must discriminate several sets of opposite conception including poetry and prose, classical Chinese and vernacular, ancient poetry and new verse, etc. To approach modern Chinese literature from boundery of the ancient and modern,Chinese and foreign culture,is a general trend of literature research under the global language circumstances.
