The art song is a very important musical form which gathers the artist sentiment and literature. And the art song in the 19th century knew two wonderful and unique periods of efflorescence in European art song field. The first one is German art song and another is French art song .The two country art song are indispensable content in our vocal musical teaching. Therefore, standing the development and style of German and French art song is very important for us to improve our article accomplishment.This thesis deal with the German art song of the first half 19th century and the French art song of the second half 19th century, discuss the difference between the two country art song through compare their art song development background, representative composer and their works and the magic power of the integrate of the poem and music. So, we can get a better explain of the verse and grasp the style of the two country art song more accurately.I divided the whole thesis into three parts, the first part introduces the art song and a brief account of its development, The second part aesthetically analyze the works of the representative composer of the German art song and French art song of 19th century. The third part compare the differences between the two country art song through literature background, combine of the poem and music, language character, nationality feature and performance style.
