This thesis is intended to make a comparison of the performances of three different grades foreign students on typical 'ba' sentences related to a picture-depicting task. At first, a statistically significant difference was not found among the three grades foreign students on using typical 'ba' sentences; A same result was observed among the three grades foreign students on the rate of correct typical 'ba' sentences; The difference in error among the three grades is so little that there is no need for statistics; The 'acquisition' peak season has not emerged in any grade. Secondly, a statistically significant difference exists in coherent sentences and non-coherent sentences when the three grades foreign students use non-'ba' sentences. Thirdly, the thesis investigates how three teaching materials deal with typical 'ba'sentences (the appearing time and sequence; the description of semantic meaning; the exercises compiling; the repeat and so on). Finally, based on the statistical results of this study, the thesis points out the defects of the three teaching materials dealing with typical 'ba' sentences, and gives some advice accordingly.
