The Palestinian uprising that erupted in December 1987 is an important turning point in the history of the Palestinian-Israeli conflicts. So this article represents an attempt to understand the background and repercussions of it in order to seek out its implication for the future of Palestinian-Israeli and Arab-Israel conflicts. The whole article is composed of four parts. Part one examines the nature of Israeli colonized control over the Occupied Territories. In this part, it shows how the severity of Israeli measures and recourse to coercive means is the roots of the uprising. In part two, the impacts of the uprising for Palestinian, Jordanian, American, Israeli and Egyptian are analyzed. First, the uprising resulted in a dramatic transformation of Jordan's politic role. King Husayn relinquished Jordan's responsibility for the west bank. Second, PLO, by its Declaration of Independence and Statehood, made out its own political program for peace, and the fact of the uprising affected the foreign policies of the global super-power, the America. So the third examines the changes, which have taken place in American views and policies as a result of the uprising. Most important is that dialogues between America and the PLO were from indirect to direct. Fourth turns its attention to the most directly involved: Israeli itself, the uprising had a profound effect on Israeli politics and society. Many complaints and criticism fell on Israel and done serious damage to it. Israel was forced to change its policies towards the PLO and Palestinian. Fifth sheds light on Egypt. As a consequence of the uprising, Egypt returned to Arab League and become the bridge to peace. On the basis of the above-mentioned, part three focuses on the peace progress; especially describe the relationship between the uprising and the peace. Finally this article analyzes comprehensively the successes and limits of the uprising.
