"Huan xi yuanjia" is a collection of colloquial short stories with multitudinous editions in late Ming Dynasty, spreading widely at those days and later. The works plays relatively significant roles in Chinese Colloquial Novel History. But the book had been considered as "pornography" in a long time. In addition, the investigators pay little attention to appreciation of the works, owing to staring collections of colloquial short stories "San yan" and "Er pai". Nowadays, some scholars have renewal reputation for "Huan xi yuan jia", at the same time seeing its particular significance.Based on lots of original data and the existed findings, the thesis illustrates the edition, author, thought and artistry of the "Huan xi yuan jia", and considers there isn't an original edition of "Shan shui lin" among many editions. The author of "Huan xi yuan jia", Xihuyuyin Zhuren living with Feng Menglong at the same times, lived in Hangzhou, Zhejing, China. Based on the detail investigation of the story in the "Huan xi yuan jia", the thesis thinks that the novel is an individual production of the author, not a simulated novel as some scholars said. Although some chapters have the origins of data, it has a new significance through the author's modification.The thought of human-lust and humanity in relation to human beings intrinsic value and how to harmonize the relationship between lust realization and moral hardship is the essence of the enlightened philosophy genius in late Ming Dynasty. Certainly, sometimes poetic disappearance makes it stodgy and inconsistent articles depress the quality of the novel. In a word, the thesis wants to apperceive "Huan xi yuan jia" in a more comprehensive, impartial and objective point of view. Recover its pristine condition and give reasonable judgment as soon as possible.
