Faulkner is one of the most prominent American writers in the 20 century. He increasingly arouses the interest of readers and critics for his profound discernment to the contemporary western world, for his highly effective experiment and innovation to the novel's structure and writing techniques. The novel "Go Down, Moses" is a part of Faulkner's saga of Yoknapatawpha County. The "dissertation makes a breakthrough to the traditional research ways, discusses the relationship between the human being and the nature with emphasis in "Gown Down, Moses", especially in the hunting stories- "The Old People", "The Bear" and "Delta Autumn". Through the analysis of the relationship between the man and the woods, animals and land, this paper explores the isolation between man and nature, and the fall of the human spirit under the influence of modern industrial civilization. Besides, it still studies the relationship between "Go Down, Moses" and American romantic literature and the contemporary ecology literature in the respect of the theme of "man vs. nature". Through this dissertation, the author wishes to help comprehend Faulkner and his works from the new angle, give the modern people spiritual inspiration, and accelerate the development of environmental protection campaign at the same time.
