Suining dialect is mixed by Ganyu, a dialect found in Jiangxi province, and Xiangyu, one that is found in Hunan province. This essay reveals, based on a large number of phonetic caces and phenomena that are found in Zengjiawan, a village in the transition area from the wroth to the south in Suining county, and on some accounts of and a close analysis onto the changes of the ancient complete voiced initial consonants taking place gradually in geography from the south to the north, that Zengjianwan. dialect belongs to neither Ganyu nor Xiang yu . And further, this essay explores the impact of Ganyu on Xiangyu and exposes that collision between two reciprocal dialects may bring about phonetic changes to the transifion area upon comparing the phonological phenomena in that area. The first chapter introduces generally the geographical features, the population of Suining county and its existing accents. Also, it gives a general idea of Suining dialect. The second chapter gives an account of the phonetic system, its characteristilsof Zengjianwan dialect and some cases of variant pronunciation in the classical way and in the vernacular by this dialect. The third chapter explores the transitioned nature of Zengjiawan dialect on the basis of the development of its anlient complete voiced initial consonants, Some examples are given in this chapter to explain how the ancient complete voiced initial consonants with level tone in Suining dialect develop gradually but progresswely from the south to the northfor heing aspirated and vioceless into being aspirated with most sounds in Zengjiawan dialect with an account of this phonetic phenomenon, it reveals in this chapter that Zengjiawan dialect, though derived on the base of Xiangyu, takes shape with the nature of being a transitional dialect that belongs to neither Xiangyu nor Ganyu because of the impact of Ganyu. The fourth chapter replects, through the phonological comparison among Tangjiafang dialect with the characteristics of Ganyu, Changpu dialect with that of Xiangyu and the dialect in the transition area, that the collision between different dialects results in impact and influce in pronunciation on the transition area. The rest of the essay is the summary and conclusion to chapter 3 chapter 4. It explains as a whole the impacts between different dialects are in conformity with law and regularity, but with regard to a specific phonological phenomenon, such impacts may be characteriged by some inexplicable imbalances.
