Shanxi Adjectives Overlap

The reduplication in Chinese is an important grammar means that distribute extensively and use multifariously. The adjectives reduplication is one of the hot issues in modern Chinese language research. There are many results concerning the adjectives reduplication in dialectology. But we haven't seen so much research in Shanxi Jin (晋) dialect. This thesis is based on an investigation of the reduplication of adjectives in Shanxi Jin (晋) dialect in order to getting anywhere.This text is divided into four parts totally. A general introduction in the first part introduced the current research into the adjective reduplication. It also defined the kind of the adjective and gave a brief introduction on Shanxi Jin(晋) dialect. In addition, it elucidated the style of the composing. The second chapter studied the characteristic on the grammar meaning and function before the description of the monosyllabic morpheme being the phrase root. It included two types of AA, AXX and their change types. The third chapter elucidated the types of a syllabic morpheme being the phrase root in the adjective reduplication. It included three types of ABB, AABB, ABAB and their change types. Moreover, it made a synopsis on some other forms. The fourth chapter compared Shanxi Jin (晋) dialect and Putonghua and put forward the questions remaining to be resolved.
