Dongpo's Probe Into The Heart

Ci is the literature of soul. Dongpo is good at writing very rich and complex consciousness of individuality and state of life though ci, which expresses his surmounting hardships of life. Moreover, he puts the spirit of poetry into creation of ci intentionally, which makes the ci show the unique characteristics of the poet. Thus it is significant to study Dongpo's ci from themind of ci.This paper is divided into three parts. The first part illustrates that Dongpo's ci mind means poetry mind. According to Dongpo's sense of ci style, it explains that Dongpo's ci is characterized by its obvious tendency to poetry style. Seen through the essence theory, Dongpo fully displays a poet's personality, quality and morality in his ci; and seen from the creation of ci , he writes ci through a poetic touch and introduces subject matter , function , artistic conception and technique of expression of poetry into ci writing in a large number , which improves the development of ci . The second part analyses the unique achievement of Dongpo's ci mind. Firstly, it introduces the expression of his unique achievement according to the fact that Dongpo applies lots of prefaces, changes the object of presentation and creates yinkuo style (a kind of creation method by pruning and rewriting the original work ). Secondly, it objectively evaluates his unique achievement and brings out the merits and demerits of his introducing poetry mind into ci. The third part discusses the essence of Dongpo's ci mind. It shows the cause and expression of the Dongpo's broad-minded outlook on life; it also analyses the technique of expression and aesthetic effect of Dongpo's broad-minded style of ci. Finally, it explains that all kinds of writers' broad-mindedness shares general characters during Song Dynasty, but authors differs from each other in the degree of the broad-mindedness. It is said that only those who are as broad-minded as Dongpo can write ci like Dingpo.
