On Wang Jun, "said The Text" Ideogram

Because of the high pressure of Qing dynasty, the discipline of Pu-xue which was distinguished by it's textual research arose in Qian-jia period. Under such unique cultural background, Wang Yun, one scholar of shuo-wen-si-da-jia, made outstanding research on Chinese character, he was the only scholar who studied the form of Chinese character in Qing dynasty.In this thesis, I will discuss Wang Yun's research from three aspects. Firstly, the feature of Wang Yun's work. Being different from others, Wang Yun paid lots of attention to the form of the Chinese character. This is closely related to the cultural background, the way he studied Shuo-wen and some other factors. Secondly, the cases that Wang Yun corrected the ideographic characters of Shuo-wen. In this essay the results of Wang Yun 's research are analyzed in the light of gu-wen-zi materials such as Jia-gu-wen and Jin-wen, the rules of ancient Chinese character originated and develop. Thirdly, the reason why Wang Yun succeeded in some places while failed in other places. The following facts make him successful: he had studied Shuo-wen for a long time and comprehended it deeply, he grasped the rules about development of Chinese character and was good at making full use of all kinds of materials and methods. On the other hand , the facts that Wang Yun's knowledge about ancient Chinese character isn't abundant enough led to his failure in some places.
